About ACSC/APF
WELCOME TO ACSC/APF 2024
Introduction
The ASEAN Civil Society Conference/ASEAN People’s Forum (ACSC/APF) is the largest gathering of civil society organizations in Southeast Asia. Established in 2004, it serves as a platform for regional civil society to raise concerns, advocate for change, and promote a more just and democratic Southeast Asia.
Background
The ACSC/APF 2024 will be held in Dili, Timor-Leste, in September 2024. This year’s conference coincides with several significant milestones:
- 20th Anniversary of ACSC/APF: The meeting will mark 20 years since the establishment of ACSC, later incorporating the ASEAN People’s Forum.
- Timor-Leste’s 50th Year of National Struggle: Timor-Leste will celebrate 50 years of struggle for national liberation.
- Timor-Leste’s Potential ASEAN Membership: Timor-Leste is expected to join ASEAN as a full member by 2025.
- Development of ASEAN Vision of Post-25: ASEAN will be adopting a new core document outlining its future direction.
