Timor-Leste’s NOC Gears Up for ACSC APF 2024 with Support from Director General of ASEAN Affairs, Ms. Elisa da Silva
On April 8, 2024, Timor-Leste’s National Organizing Committee (NOC) for ACSC APF 2024 convened a pivotal meeting with General Director of ASEAN Affairs, Ms. Elisa da Silva. The meeting focused on securing crucial support for the upcoming event, emphasizing governmental backing and financial aid to ensure the successful hosting of ACSC APF 2024.
Ms. Elisabeth Lino de Araujo, Chair of NOC TL 2024, underscored the historical significance and meticulous preparations for ACSC APF 2024. She highlighted Timor-Leste’s readiness to host following decisions by the Regional Steering Committee (RSC), aiming to engage with international donors such as GASC and exploring potential support from the EU, subject to official approvals.
Ms. Elisa da Silva, General Director of ASEAN Affairs, provided insights into the pathway for formal support, including the presentation of a concept note to government ministers for consideration. Pending ministerial decisions on budget allocations, flexibility is anticipated in funding arrangements to bolster NOC TL’s initiatives for ACSC APF 2024.
The collaborative meeting’s also participated by Mr. Gil – MNEK, Fernando Ximenes – Chair of Program (Esperansa), and Mrs. Ricar Pascoela – Chair of Drafting (WWCTL), signify a significant stride towards fostering regional dialogue and civil society participation. This initiative is crucial for preparing a successful ACSC APF 2024.
