On June 6, 2024, Timor-Leste’s National Organizing Committee (NOC) for the upcoming ASEAN Civil Society Conference/ASEAN People’s Forum (ACSC/APF) met with the Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam. This key meeting signifies strengthening ties between the two nations and paves the way for a successful regional event.

Brunei expressed its commitment to supporting Timor-Leste’s role as host, highlighting their existing collaboration in healthcare and education. The NOC Chair, Sra. Elisabeth Lino de Araujo, emphasized the importance of the ACSC/APF in fostering regional civil society engagement.

The meeting resulted in plans for early invitations to Brunei’s civil society organizations and the sharing of the final program. Discussions also focused on ensuring inclusivity for all ASEAN participants, including considerations for HALAL food and prayer times.

This collaborative effort between Brunei and Timor-Leste’s NOC demonstrates their commitment to a successful ACSC/APF, strengthening diplomatic relations and regional cooperation.
