Workshop on the theme “Minority, Marginalized People, and Gender Justice.” Titled “An Arduous but Yearning Endeavor: Access to Justice for Survivors of Conflict-Related Gender-Based Crimes
On September 19, the Women’s League of Burma and the Women Advocacy Coalition-Myanmar, in partnership with the Initiatives for International Dialogue (Philippines) and the People’s Empowerment Foundation (Thailand), will host a workshop on the theme “Minority, Marginalized People, and Gender Justice.” Titled “An Arduous but Yearning Endeavor: Access to Justice for Survivors of Conflict-Related Gender-Based Crimes,” the workshop will focus on the impact of conflict on gender dynamics, especially for women and gender minorities. It will examine the limitations of international and regional frameworks in addressing justice in conflict zones, considering local power dynamics, cultural norms, and legal obstacles. The event will also explore strategies to challenge impunity for gender-based crimes in conflicts and provide recommendations to improve access to justice for survivors, including survivor-centered support and legal aid.
